The “Jight”: A New Fashion Phenom?

11 Oct

Siwy Sophie Mesh Jeans

A while back, I wrote about the magic that was the invention of the jegging–a portmanteau of jeans and leggings– for Missbehave. And now, Siwy has essentially introduced us to the jight–a combo of jeans and mesh tights. (Wait, should I  have just said that out loud? Should I patent the term before it gets out to the fashion public?)

I tend to wear mesh tights under my denim shorts anyway, so these Siwy Mesh Panel jeans are kind of creating an easy shortcut to getting dressed– and I do love shortcuts.

But do built-in tights really make for a $242 price tag? I’m sure Forever 21 will be in on the jight game in 3…2…1…

Must Have Now: MadeMe Rose Leather Jackets

MadeMe Rose Jackets

I NEED one of these jackets from the MadeMe Fall ’09 collection like the desert needs the rain.

But I don’t 550-dollars need them… Then again, I don’t really need an iPhone either, but need is such a flexible term these days. So, which is the sounder investment half a grand? Bomber or Motorcycle Jacket? Decisions, decisions.

And if you can’t get the full effect of how amazing they are from the tiny snapshots, click to see them in action in the lookbook.

Music I’m Feeling: Baby Monster

8 Oct

baby monster pic

So I have to be upfront. The initial reason I decided to even listen Baby Monster is because of this pic I saw of of them: because the guy on the right looks really similar to a Chinese pop star I used to have a major crush attack on as a kid. But their track “Ultra Violence and Beethoven” would still be awesome even if one half of the duo wasn’t a hottie hapa.

Hailing from Oregon, these guys have already started to solidify their presence on the music blogospheres as the next big thing, a la MGMT. But I guess we’ll just have to see what happens when they make their first big debut at this year’s CMJ festival, where you can catch them later this month doing showcases at Brooklyn’s Cameo Gallery (10/21) and Santos Party House (10/23).
