Must Have Now: Sretsis Daisy Sunglasses

19 Mar

On a totally perfect day in New York like this, all I want to do is to be outside with some cute spring clothes on– and of course, wearing these Sretsis shades from their A/W ’10 collection “Make My Heart Melt.” Maybe not for the $500 or so price tag, but for whatever totally discounted price I’ll get them for at Forever 21 in a month…

But if you can afford the real deal, snag them at the online Aussie boutique Maximillia now.

Music (Videos) I’m Feeling: Fever Ray

12 Mar

I know everyone freaks over Lady Gaga’s crazy style and her bizarro and outlandish videos, but I would trade her any day for Sweden’s Fever Ray (aka Karin Dreijer Andersson, whom you might recognize as one half of The Knife)– whose music is on a different plane entirely and whose videos are eccentric and darkly beautiful.

Since going solo last year, she’s already put out six amazing videos from her self-titled debut album. See them all after the jump.

Victor Demarchelier’s “Creating Images”

3 Mar

My friend Victor Demarchelier, an up-and-coming fashion photographer, is having his first solo show at Soho’s Clic Gallery which opens today. In case you missed his joint showing at MINA gallery last spring in collaboration with Alexandra Richards, you should definitely catch “Creating Images” running from March 3 to April 5, with an opening reception on March 15, 6-9 pm (424 Broome St).

He’s already shot a Barney’s catalog and editorials for Interview, Vogue, and Harper’s Bazaar, so you know he’s on the up-and-up. If you have a few grand lying around, it’s the perfect chance to take one of his pieces home before they cost a million bucks each. But more importantly, you should buy his work so he can treat me to our next lunch.

See some more of his work after the jump.

In Gaga We Trust

3 Mar

Despite the fact I have black hair and am part Asian, I was told twice in one week from strangers that I look like Lady Gaga. I didn’t know whether to consider it as a compliment or an insult– especially now that I’ve seen artist Craig Gleason’s Lady Gaga Dollar series where he’s found a striking resemblance between President George Washington and the over-the-top pop singer by painting dollar bills in the likeness of some of her many infamous costumes. I get that she’s a “Fame Monster” and is slowly taking over the world, but I just didn’t expect she’d be as influential as one of our founding fathers just yet. Clearly, I’m mistaken.

For that reason, I guess looking like Lady Gaga isn’t so bad. But if someone tells me I look like George Washington, I’m probably going to have to get plastic surgery.

Check out the whole series after the jump, and if you want, buy the whole set of 12 for $150 on Craig’s Etsy store here.
