Style Showdown: Blossom vs. Clarissa

Only days after Mayim Bialik’s head-to-toe transformation on the debut episode of this season’s What Not to Wear, Jezebel decided it was necessary to make her feel even worse by shoving in her face that she wasn’t even THAT stylish when she was Blossom, as they pit her against her more fashion-forward, cable-TV arch nemesis Clarissa Darling in an all out battle of the pre-hipster hipsters. That’s rhetorical. Of course you do. Blossom Russo single-handedly perpetuated the oversized-floppy-hat-with-a-big-flower phenomenon. And besides that, her look kind of defined the early nineties for any suburban girl who felt like the “outsider.” Unfortunately, actress Mayim Bialik’s fashion sense didn’t keep with the ebb and flow of the times, as she now just dresses like a hobo with what appears to be her character Blossom’s reject leftover outfits. And according to this sneak preview from the upcoming season of TLC’s “What Not to Wear,” someone thought it was serious enough that the former fashion icon get a complete closet overhaul. So, even though I’ve grown to detest WNTW for its habit of making everyone look like a low-end department store mannequin, Mayim could probably use whatever help she can get.
