Line to Watch: Rad by Rad Hourani

Anyone who might loosely follow this blog has probably figured out that I’m an avid Alexander Wang fan. So being down with Wang inevitably makes me an auto-fan of Rad Hourani– the Jordan-born, Montreal-bred designer who’s also a master of the drapey, unisex friendly, pseudo-punk chic style for the long and lean type. And having only released four collections since starting his eponymous label in 2007, this awesomely-named designer (pun intended) has now put out a diffusion collection– which luckily for all of us, is more affordable ($100-$400) and even more wearable than his signature collections. The fabrics seem loose-fitting and luxurious– and best of all, getting the most bang out of your buck– all 15 looks are totally interchangeable for girls/boys due to Hourani’s affinity for adrogyny.

Line to Watch: Friend of Mine

Another amazing Aussie debut line, Friend of Mine by Melbourne-based designer Teale Talbot, is right on point for this summer. The first ever collection “Opposites Attract” features a mix of punk in cut-away bandage dresses, studded beanies, and zippered wedge boots to more bohemian aspects like ruffled skirts and flowy white dresses– inspired equally by the streets of New York as well as the beaches of Byron Bay to culminate in a “beach-meets-grunge” attitude.

Aussie Kym Ellery, a former Central Saint Martins student and Market Editor for Russsh Magazine, can now add designer to her repertoire. Having only launched her eponymous Sydney-based label last year, her newest collection for Spring/Summer ’10 titled “Je Suis a Vous,” was by far one of the favorite collections from Rosemount Australian Fashion Week.

Check out the collection after the jump.
